Back in March, Tony speared an avocado pit on three sides with corn on the cob skewers and set it in a glass of water. We pretty much forgot about it, giving it infrequent waterings with half-hearted hopes that it would develop into anything other than a moldy afterthought. Then one day, we lifted it from its place among our miniature jungle of house foliage and it had sprouted, roots were spiraling down from its bottom and leaves were forming. We planted it in potting soil and now it sits tall on our windowsill. Science experiment cum house plant! According to interweb sources, we’re merely 5-10 years (but most likely never without cross pollination) from guacamole dip.
